Hi all,
This guide is a quick overview of the easiest way from levels 75-99 Ranged
First of all, you must have completed the quest, Monkey Madness, and must have at least level 60 Prayer, and also at the bare minimum, level 55 ranged for the Red Chinchompas (I strongly urge you not to attempt to red chin with this method until at least 70 Ranged though).
In your inventory you should have:
- 3 Ranging Potions
- 1 Varrock Teleport Tab
- 3 Super/Normal Antipoison Potions
- 1 monkey Greegree, of any sort (preferably not zombie, because it doesn't allow you to run)
- 2 Monkfish/Shark/Rocktails depending on your hitpoints (this is in case you make a mistake and are on low health)
- 18 Prayer Potions
You should be wearing:
- Void Knight Ranger Helm
- Void Knight Top
- Void Knight Robe
- Void Knight Gloves
- Amulet of Ranging
- Snakeskin Boots (Ranger Boots if you can afford them and are willing to risk them)
- 2000 Red Chinchompas
- Unholy Book (More commonly known as the Zammy Book)
- Ava's Accumulator (Recieved as a reward after the quest, Animal Magnetism)
- Ring of Life / Archer's Ring (Depending on whether you are willing to risk the Archer's Ring, remember that full void is at risk also)
It is a good idea to buy your chinchompas in 10k or 20k lots, but only take 2k with you at a time in case you die, because when you die they all escape, even if you get back to your grave in time. Know that if you die it is very difficult to get back to your grave in time before it disappears, when in Ape Atol Dungeon. After you have all the equipment in your inventory, make sure that you have full prayer points and hitpoints before teleporting to gnome stronghold via the Grand Exchange spirit tree (make sure your varrock teleport goes to the Grand Exchange, this requires completion of the Varrock Achievement Diary 1). Once at Gnome Stronghold, go to up the ladder in the Grand Tree, where the king is, and go over to the bar, where Daero is. Travel to the Hangar via Daero, and then to Crash Island via Waydar and finally to Ape Atol via Lumdo. Once on Ape Atol, equip the Monkey Greegree so that none of those pesky spiders or scorpions will attack you. Run to the Ape Atol dungeon not far from there and run through until you come to a bend in the tunnel with 5 skeleton monkeys standing around. Stand underneath the overhanging rock so that you don't get damaged by falling rocks and turn on your Melee Protection prayer, before equipping your red chinchompas. All of the skeleton monkeys will come and surround you, but make sure you pick a position to stand where they will only be directly in front of you, or on either side of you - but not behind you. After this, keep throwing the chins at the spot which gives you most coverage depending on where the skeletons are standing. It will be slow for a few minutes, but when the skeletons die, they respawn very soon out of their bones and also a new one respawns just normally, giving you an extra for each one. Soon you will have anything up to 25 skeletons standing on your right, left and center. Some people prefer to use Eagle-Eye prayer as well as ranging potions, because of the accelerated experience. Even though this method uses less chins, more loss is made on prayer pots, making this method cost more than without the Eagle-Eye prayer. However, it is a personal choice - I decided to use Eagle-Eye to 99. Be warned that if you do use this prayer, your prayer will drain a lot faster and you will need to keep a close eye on it. Always keep an eye on your prayer, since your void is at risk here.
I hope this guide helps you all with your Ranging, and goodluck
Thanks,
~ Hood ~
