First of all, I will tell you how i achieved 99 Mining, then i will discuss alternate methods.
My Method - From 62-99:
From
62-80 mining, all i did was Stars. Shooting Stars are a great way to gain good experience and still receive some profit. (Shooting Stars, assuming you have the maximum amount of Stardust (200) can net you 85k a day in rewards the amount of gems you receive from mining the star). They are also a great way to make new friends and socialise! (Yes, mining can be fun!)
--- P.S When mining a star, remember to wear a
charged Amulet of Glory (4) to receive more gems when mining a star!

80-93, i combined both Stars, and Living Rock Caverns (LRC). LRC is a great way to earn a good amount of experience and net a fair bit of cash in the process! LRC contains both Concentrated Coal Deposits (Requiring 77 mining) and Concentrated Gold Deposits (Requiring 80 mining). The difference between Deposits and regular Coal and Gold rocks, is that the Deposits contain more than one of each ore, meaning that you can essential mine inventories full of either ore before it collapses.
--- P.S LRC may be a good method, however in LRC, there are many high level monsters, which are aggressive towards anyone. A level 120 Melee and a level 140 Ranger, so beware!

93-99, i only did a few stars, and camped in LRC for a good 2-3 weeks. This netted me around 25mil cash from all the Gold and Coal ore and from killing a few Living Rock Patriachs (Boss LRC creatures that spawn approximately every 2 hours).
So that's how i did it, now here are some other methods.
Alternate Methods:
1.
Power/Mining Iron - This method can be attacked two ways, dropping the Iron, or depositing the Iron. I don't suggest doing this method past 80-85, but it is definately a good way to gain experience. Areas such as Port Khazard can be used to deposit the Iron, however the best experience lies in dropping the Iron.
2.
Power Mining Granite - This method requires you being in the southern desert (Meaning you must have a source of water, preferably an Enchanted Water Tiara). The location for granite is called the Quarry and can be located on the world map, below the bandit camp. This method is one of the fastest ways, if not the fastest way to gain experience in mining. However the consequence of great experience, is no profit, as with this method you are dropping the granite. This method can be done till 99, but can be boring and tedious, with no money gain.
3.
Runite/Adamant - This method is by far the longest method out of these. However this is definately the most profitable. Runite mining, no matter how slow, can net a HUGE amount of profit in the long run. Places where I have mined rune, are the Wilderness (Level 45 - Just above lava maze), the Resource Dungeon in the mining guild (Requires 45 dungeoneering), and the Heroes Guild (In the underground section, south of the obelisk on either side of the crates/boxes).
I hope this guide helps anyone wanting to achieve 99 mining, it's a hard 99 to get, and is an awesome achievement.
